What is Residency?

Google for Startups Residency is a 12-week program which brings the best of Google’s connections, products and best practises to some of the UK's most innovative startups. We tailor each program to the specific needs of the cohort, and design, build and deliver value to our founders through mentorship, workshops, workspace and events.

Our current Women Founders Residency is tackling major challenges in education, health, finance, infrastructure, cyber security & computer vision.

Program Overview

We design our programs around 3 key themes which bring the best of Google to our startups.

  • Google's Products

We offer personalised education, support and introductions to Google products and services which enable our Residency startups to build and scale their businesses simply and quickly.

  • Google's Connections and Mentorship

Every startup is assigned a senior Google mentor which works with the founders on key business challenges throughout the 12-week program. The mentors are experts in their chosen fields, and prove invaluable to the startups with their guidance and support.

  • Google's Best Practices

From OKR-setting and hiring to product management, we share our best practices to support the strategic and measurable growth of your business at scale.

Meet our Alumni

Karan arrived in Canada as a five-year-old war refugee from Sri Lanka and began his entrepreneurial career as a paperboy. Inspired by a high school mentor who taught him how to invest, he went on to become an analyst with Barclays in London. But Karan wanted to fix the inefficiencies he saw in the finance industry. He left his job, joined the Campus London community, and started WealthKernel - a platform helping banks serve customers in a more simple and cost-effective way.

During the six-month Campus Residency program, Karan grew his team by 40%, raised £90K in additional capital, and completed a live trade in the financial markets, a real milestone for the platform they had been building. Since then, WealthKernel have launched a new consumer product, WealthSmart, a new online investment tool, and continues to grow.

"We got access to mentors, experienced founders, and Google employees who provided valuable support and expertise to help us scale. Campus has broadened my horizons as an entrepreneur -it opened my eyes to everything I didn't know but needed to. It really fosters your growth, and meeting people from all walks of life adds to that."

- Karan Shanmugarajah, Founder of WealthKernel
