Karan Shanmugarajah, Founder of WealthKernel

Karan arrived in Canada as a five-year-old war refugee from Sri Lanka and began his entrepreneurial career as a paperboy. Inspired by a high school mentor who taught him how to invest, he went on to become an analyst with Barclays in London. But Karan wanted to fix the inefficiencies he saw in the finance industry. He left his job, joined the Campus London community, and started WealthKernel – a platform helping banks serve customers in a more simple and cost-effective way.

During the six-month Campus Residency program, Karan grew his team by 40%, raised £90K in additional capital, and completed a live trade in the financial markets, a real milestone for the platform they had been building. Since then, WealthKernel have launched a new consumer product, WealthSmart, a new online investment tool, and continues to grow.
